Senior Data Engineer

Helmes is looking for a Senior Data Engineer to join our team! We are looking for someone who wants to build new data domains, optimize query performance for heavy business usage, and automate deployment workflows – someone who takes ownership and truly cares about the data quality.

You will work on a meaningful project with a forward-thinking organization that treats data as a core product, not just a byproduct of business. Join the community of talented professionals who make lasting contributions together and grow in a place that’s as invested in your success as you are.

Challenges you'll tackle:

  • Designing and implementing scalable, evolvable data models in dbt to support business analysts and data scientists;

  • Building and maintaining complex ELT/ETL pipelines using Python and orchestrating them with Airflow (Cloud Composer);

  • Managing and fine-tuning BigQuery environments to ensure high performance and cost-efficiency;

  • Integrating various data sources (APIs, third-party systems) into a centralized GCP-native data lake/warehouse;

  • Ensuring data integrity and security by following engineering best practices and participating in code reviews.

Skills for success:

  • Strong experience with modular data modeling and testing using dbt;

  • Deep understanding of cloud data warehousing and SQL optimization;

  • Experience working with BigQuery and Snowflake;

  • Proficiency in writing clean, maintainable Python code for data processing;

  • Hands-on experience with DAG design and workflow orchestration;

  • Solid understanding of dimensional modelling principles;

  • Great English language skills.

Nice to have:

  • Experience with Terraform;

  • Familiarity with GitLab CI/CD or GitHub Actions for data pipeline automation;

  • Experience with streaming or large-scale batch data processing.
